Top 10 Blogs from The Intuitive Writing School in 2024
As part of my intuitive content planning process, I review the articles I’ve written each year, along with the articles that are gaining traction. Here, I’ve compiled the 10 most popular articles on this website.
What you might find surprising…
I didn’t write any of these in 2024. Most of my most popular pieces were written between 2016 and 2020. Just because I wrote most of these years ago doesn’t mean that I publish and move on with my life. No, I revisit them from time to time and update the relevant ones. Not all my articles get regular updates.
You'll find these articles helpful if you’re starting a blog or a business. Also, this is your reminder to start and stay consistent with your writing. I’ve been writing online for a decade. Many business owners expect to publish a blog or two every couple of months and expect Google to send droves of traffic. Of course, anything is possible, but I’ve yet to see that happen to anyone.
Start writing, see it as a practice, publish consistently, share your work, and keep going.
Now, the top 10. Enjoy!
10. The Surprisingly Practical Writing Lesson I Learned From Moana
I’ve been seriously shocked to see this blog gain so much popularity since I wrote the original in 2016. Proof that blogging and writing online is a long game. Most people won’t blog enough to see the results. Since Moana 2 came out (I still need to see it), I updated it.
9. Turning Heads With Your Standout LinkedIn Headline
File this blog under super practical. I’ve been on LinkedIn since early in my Corporate America career in the early 2000s. Back then, colleagues looked to me to spiff up their LinkedIn profiles, and it’s still something I love doing. LinkedIn is like Facebook, with dressy pants and fewer food pics than Instagram. This is one of many articles I update a couple of times each year. I also update my LinkedIn headline every couple of months.
8. Scrapping the Shitty First Draft (SFD) for Something More Loving and Liberating
The SFD, “Shitty First Draft,” is a term coined by author Ann Lamott intended to help authors see their first drafts as “shitty” so that they can let go at the page. I appreciated this term when I first started my writing career, but over time, referring to my sacred words as “shit” was far from the truth. They’re not shitty, they’re simply not finished. I made my own definition of the SFD that feels much more expansive.
7. How To Handle Copycats Gracefully
It’s shitty that I even needed to write this. I’ve had a few clients whose work has been stolen from other businesses. Having your authentic voice ripped off is frustrating, but really, they’ll never be able to get a sliver of your success as someone who does something as shady as swiping your stuff.
6. 25 Writing Prompts for Sales Page Copy That Does Its Job — Sells!
Sales page writing is part art, part science. Most business owners I coach panic at the thought of writing sales copy. With some simple prompts, this will get you a sales page that stands out.
5. 7 Things You Can Do To Be More Authentic in Your Writing
The only people I know who don’t care about authentic writing are those who use AI to write for them or generate their ideas for them. Authenticity is always in style. It’s not a business trend, and perhaps the word is overused, but authentic living, business, and writing are the only ways to operate.
4. The NaNoWriMo Alternative: How To Create a Writing Habit This November Without Burning Out
Plain and simple, this blog title says it all. After watching too many potential authors burn out during or after the annual writing challenge to write 50,000 words in 30 days, I created my own experience. It’s not a challenge. We flow WITH nature’s rhythms and start when it’s best to start new things — on the new moon. When we tap into the energy going on around us paired with our busy lives, we create a feel-good writing life that works for us.
3. 15 Powerful Writing Prompts To Clear the Noise From Your Head
If my blog readers consistently love one thing — it’s writing prompts. I love coming up with them just as much as creatives love journaling on them. The writing prompts I share here or in 13 Holy Nights of Intuitive Writing or in Finding Flow are always direct downloads from the Divine.
2. How To Confidently Introduce Your New Business or Offer to Friends
When I noticed one of my blogs gaining massive traction (the blog at the #1 most popular spot below), I decided to write a similar one. This one is distinct from the #1 blog — it’s about telling friends about your business in an authentic way.
And the #1 blog… 🥁🥁🥁
1. How To Announce Your New Business (and steal my actual email!)
This has been, by far, my most popular blog since 2018. I wrote the original back then and noticed it continually gaining attraction. To make the most of it, I added a free download and updated the blog a few times each year. Once or twice a year, I update the publish date so it’s recent. I also add links to my newer articles throughout or at the bottom, where I list other recommended reads. The advice I share in this blog WORKS. It worked when I first launched my copywriting business as a side hustle in 2015. It worked years later and multiple times over when I pivoted my business. Steal my actual email and make it your own.
